McNally Smith College of Music names new scholarship for legendary rock band


ST. PAUL, MINN. (March 27, 2006)— McNally Smith College of Music named a new scholarship for the legendary rock band Queen today. The college Founder and President Jack McNally met with Queen + Paul Rodgers prior to their performance at the Xcel Energy Center on Sunday, March 26 to inaugurate the new scholarship in honor of the band’s extraordinary achievements. Students and Executives from McNally Smith also had a chance to meet the world famous musical innovators. Queen + Paul Rodgers is in the midst of a world tour.

“As major musical innovators with a long and productive career, Queen is a great example for our students,” said Diane Kruger, Executive Vice President, McNally Smith College. “Queen and McNally Smith represent excellence in popular music. We’re honored that they are endorsing our mission. ”

The Queen Scholarship will be awarded annually to an outstanding student.

Queen produced a series of world-spanning hit albums such as Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races, News of the World, and Jazz. Their pioneering sound has influenced scores of artists, from Iron Maiden to Smashing Pumpkins.
